Dr. Zachary Burton, OMD
During my undergraduate studies, I had the pleasure of learning about Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine during a Public Health class. It fascinated me how there was a medically recognized practice fundamentally based on energy and its’ relation to the physical aspects of the human body. Learning that Acupuncture could assist certain types of strokes made me think about my grandfather and how he may have had an easier time recovering from his stroke. Right away, I felt compelled to learn more about this medicine and chose to shadow a local OMD. Observing him practice acupuncture and moxibustion to treat the public’s ailments only further inspired me to pursue this what seemed to be mysterious medicine.
While attending graduate school, I finally learned the practical and methodical ways of how everything in the body is connected according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Performing treatments in the student clinic only added to the astonishment of how this medicine works. I finally felt like I was in the right field where I could help people and also introduce something different. I served as President of the student association to help further our involvement in community while strengthening the students’ foundations as future Doctors of Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. I helped organize two international trips to two hospitals for education and experience. The first was in 2018 to Shanghai, China, where we spent time in an integrated eastern and western medicine hospital where patients were mostly on herbal IVs and there were both western and eastern pharmacies on site. The second trip was to Chang Rai, Thailand, in 2019. We worked and learned at a completely eastern hospital where you could be prescribe different therapies such as Thai Massage and Reflexology that would be covered by insurance. Seeing these systems in place and functioning with high results inspired me to help integrate these modalities into our official healthcare system.
I recently returned in early 2024 from working on the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship that toured through the Adriatic Sea, Aegean Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. During my time, I was able to treat patients from all over the world while being able to travel to over 30 different cities between Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Malta, Morocco, the Canary Islands, and Gibraltar. The experience was unique and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
Now, I combine my worldly experiences to provide Acupuncture that is catered to the individual and can even be done in the luxury of your own home. I provide in-home Acupuncture to Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. I also practice out of an Acupuncture clinic for those who want treatment in a more professional setting.
